  1. Reverse Power (Low Card)

An interesting Variation we play with to increase the strategy is two fold.
First we play the Bird is ALWAYS the lowest trump card no matter what...It makes it tougher as you really have to try to protect/capture it.

Second in addition to that we play that the winner of the nest can call "low card". This exactly reverses the power of all the cards (Except the bird which remains low). So if you get dealt a cruddy hand full of low cards you can still bid to take the nest and then call low card to totally change the…

  2. Low cards game play option and shooting

Love the new red one settings. Wanted to offer a family game style for consideration. We call it low cards. We use the same cards and values as in red one takes all however there are no trumps when playing this style. Decison to go low cards is made after the bidding occurs and widow examined - at that point the inner of the bids chooses to go "low" or go high by selecting trump. Rook acts as 15 and red one 16 of any selected suit provided you have played void in the color on a previous trick. In…

  3. It would be cool if you could choose how many cards go into the nest.

i've played it this way and it makes it more challenging and makes you have different strategies at hand to use.

  4. Wanting partner to lead

When you or your partner wins the bid you should have the option to keep the nest or give it to you partner if you already have a strong hand. You should also be able to decide if you want your partner to lead knowing that you don't have the black bird card and trying to figure out if your partner or someone else has it so you can bleed it out of your opponents.

  5. An option between teams and independent play.

This is where instead of being teamed with another player, you are on your own. So everything is the same as far as bidding and rules go, but when you score it is individual.
